First date done.

August 16, 2008 at 10:38 pm (Uncategorized)

I didn’t get a whole lot of details but apparently it went well. D got a tattoo. A temporary one. It was a red dragon. E picked it out. I guess she indicated that she likes boys with tats.  D actually asked if I would allow him to get a permanent tat. I had to explain that I am that mom that will not allow her 12 yr old son to get a permanent mark that impresses the girls right now.

E, I guess have been walking around with E+D=LOVE on her face for the last week.

God help me. I don’t think I am strong enough to survive the dating years

It should be interesting

August 15, 2008 at 9:15 pm (Uncategorized)

So tomorrow afternoon we are going to the Sun Prairie Corn Fest.

With the parents of the girl D asked out. We are close friends with the parents and in typical parent fashion we have been teasing the shit out of the kids since they haven’t seen each other since the great text contest of July. I think D is a little scared but excited at the same time. Either way it should be a great time.

If you are in the Madison area this weekend you should really make an attempt to head out to the Corn Fest. My friend Sarah has busted her ass to make sure this festival goes off without a hitch. So go support her and the city of Sun Prairie and eat some corn.

I love me some Elvis

August 15, 2008 at 9:05 pm (Uncategorized)

But really. I can’t imagine spending over $6K for a set of Barbie dolls. Even if they are autographed. Sean Connery ( my ultimate create a sin man)  would have to deliver them personally and we would have to make sweet sweet love before I even remotely thought about paying that much for a celebrity item.

Come to think of it though, I do remember bidding a ridiculous amount of money on the shoes MJ wore in his last game before he retired. Good thing someone else had more to drink than me and felt that $26,000 was a bargain. ( don’t ask)

*sigh*

August 15, 2008 at 7:57 pm (work) (, , )

Ever have one of those weeks? Where you are stressed beyond belief and you just want it to end, then Friday comes and your still not done. You realize that you have to still work tomorrow because work is fucking crazy and there is so much shit to be done you could work 60 hours a week and still not be caught up.

I want to drive to a spa check myself in for a week and not answer a phone, be near a computer, or hear anyone bitch about anything.

1st date

August 11, 2008 at 7:03 pm (Uncategorized)

So my son asked his very girl out for a date. It’s only a movie and they have gone to the movies before, but this time he asked her and she said yes.

My baby is growing up and I haven’t had a heart attack. Yet.

I’m so proud and scared at the same time. If someone would have told me that having sex leads to teenage boys, I think I might still be a virgin.

It’s almost that time again

August 10, 2008 at 5:21 pm (shopping) (, , )

In less than a month my son will be back in school. I am not looking forward to shopping for him clothes. Don’t get me wrong, he is easy to shop for. Jeans, long sleeve shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts and his is good. The problem lies in the fact that he is about 5′7″ – 5′8″ and weighs maybe 107. If he’s lucky. So I have to try and find jeans that have an inseam of at least 32″ and the waist of 26-27. Do you know how hard this is? Levi’s use to make student jeans, which were long legs and skinny waists. I haven’t been able to find them in years. So my angst right now is completely jeans related.

Anniversary

August 9, 2008 at 8:06 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

So, my third anniversary was Wednesday. My wonderful husband had a dozen long stemmed red roses waiting for me when I got home from work. I try to say I’m not a fan of flowers cause they die, they are a waste of money, blah blah blah, However coming home from work and seeing those flowers sitting on the table made me very happy. I also got a raise on my anniversary, which was a kick ass surprise. Nothing like adding 15% to your salary. We went to my favorite restaurant for dinner and I got a mason jar full of their homemade ranch. If you know me at all, then you know this was the best present EVER. I fancy myself a ranch connoisseur, and their’s is the best I have ever tasted. I won’t share how the evening ended cause a lady doesn’t kiss and tell. Lots o’ wiener humping was involved. So Just suffice it to say that I have the most amazing husband ever and goes good with anything =)

Weekends & Fun

August 4, 2008 at 8:30 pm (Uncategorized)

So Saturday we went to our friend Dani’s mom’s house for a pool party.

Even though my back was killing me, I was determined to have a good time. Which we did. Alcohol is a beautiful thing.

Dani’s mom knows how to throw a party. I also learned where Dani got her trucker mouth from. We had such a great time. Dani and Jay have amazing friends and her mom makes some kick ass food.

Just one rule to remember- Jay… No peeing in the pool.

And I’ve lost my virginity

August 4, 2008 at 7:12 pm (Uncategorized)

to the Wisconsin State Fair. I have lived here for a decade and never once considered going to the fair. Then Sara had to go talking about it on Friday and next thing you know, I’m drinking and blabbling on and on about getting a funnel cake and checking out the carnies. So Sunday morning we hoofed it down to the fair. I was extremely disappointed at first, I mean all I say was the midway and some stoopid rides. Then we hit the FAIR. I saw chickens and white trash and had roasted corn on the cob. I also learned that there is a lot of food made here in Wisconsin besides milk, beer and cheese. All in all I had a fantastic weekend.
I wish I would have seen more mullets but I will survive. The super sized woman ( I can say this cause I’m fat) in a halter tie bathing suit will have to do for this year.

No words

August 4, 2008 at 7:02 pm (Uncategorized)

THIS disgusts me. I have no words to describe how appalled and mortified that this is allowed.

Speaking as someone who had an uncle who had Down’s, I couldn’t imagine what life would have been without him.

Larry was born in 1959 to my Gramma. He was a “change of life” baby and my mom’s family always said it was because my Gramma was in her 40’s when he was born. Larry had an amazing life. My Gramma fought for him to go to regular school and got him an education. He loved participating in Special Olympics every year. One time we were visiting before I lived here in WI and it happened to be during the Special Olympics qualifying events. I remember sitting on the bleacher cheering Larry on. He was so proud. He loved life and didn’t see the bad or the ugly in people. He only saw the good.

Ask him anything about any Packer player or game and he could recite the stats in an instant. There was also no talking during the Packer game. Not even to ask questions. He also loved to bowl and was good at it. He could kick my ass any day. Larry died a few years ago. The doctor couldn’t determine a cause of death. I think it was from a broken heart. My Gramma died less than a year before him and in him entire 46 years on this earth they were never apart for more than a week. I think when she passed, he didn’t know what to do, So he gave up on life.

I know many people who feel sorry for those with Down’s. I personally envy them. They don’t know the pain of judgement or being bitter. Yes they get made fun of but my Uncle had no clue when people made fun of him. He held a job at Rocky’s for many many years. He loved his job and had regular people that he saw.

My Uncle Larry had a fulfilling and rewarding life. I am jealous that in nearly the same amount of time I have been on this earth, I haven’t experienced nearly as much joy as he had.

And let the games begin

Bedtime- Party of one

July 29, 2008 at 10:03 pm (Uncategorized)

When your 12 yr old son informs you that you don’t want to hear about his text messages or his 10:30 pm phone calls.

I need about 8 years sleep.

Thanks

Weekends & Friends

July 27, 2008 at 7:56 pm (Uncategorized)

One of my friends got married yesterday and it was fabulous. I got to do her hair and make-up and chill with her the morning of. She looked stunning and the wedding was so perfect. The flowers and food were awesome. I was so honored to have been a part of her day. I had a great time as did everyone.

Another set of friends stayed with us and went to the wedding also. After the wedding we came home and ended up introducing Dani and Jay to the Wii. There may have been drunken Wii and someone may have fallen down and someone may have passed out on the couch.

We then got up today, went to Wal-Mart in our jammies and got stuff for breakfast. Then we went to the driving range so my husband could give Jay a golf lesson while Dani and I hit some balls.

Overall it was an awesome weekend.  Next weekend we get to hang with Dani and Jay again at a pool party.

And I’m a slacker

July 23, 2008 at 11:57 am (Uncategorized)

I didn’t go into work today. I needed a mental health day. Thankfully they are completely ok with that.

The down side is that no one does my work when I am gone.

Oh well.

I may have to tell a woman tomorrow at work that the $7K she thought she was getting back in cash isn’t going to happen. This doesn’t make me happy and has lead me to drink before 5 pm.

On a side note- Be very cautious when a VERY prestigious software company tells you that you can earn cashback on purchases made through their site.

You have been warned
